We are student interns of Kenya Connect, a grassroots non-profit. Kenya Connect is a philanthropic organization that aids sustainable development in Kenya. Through school partnership and international cooperation, Kenya Connect builds purified water tanks, community resource centers, and primary schools throughout Kenya. In support of this worthwhile venture, would you consider supporting education and youth around the world through a monetary or material donation? In doing so, you will connect your business with a wide network of advocacy around the world.
We are making these efforts in partnership with a number of other charitable organizations. We are working with Ashoka’s Youth Venture, a branch of the Ashoka Fellowship. Youth Venture encourages young minds to address societal and communal needs by means of their own project, or Venture. Ventures are completely student led and student organized, with guidance from a non-controlling adult ally.
As avid eleventh graders at Arundel High School in Gambrills, MD, we are fortunate enough to be partnered with Kenya Connect, Ashoka’s Youth Venture, and Rotary International’s Youth Interact club. Our project, Kenya Venture, is an ambitious but sustainable and conceivable endeavor. We hope to raise $11,ooo that will: 1) fund a Kenya Connect supported solar-powered resource center in Wamunyu, Kenya, and 2) help us found an international book club between students of Arundel High School and Wamunyu, Kenya that confers via Skype. Through Interact club fundraisers, we have close to $1,000 already. Our ultimate goal is to initiate and continue an exchange of ideas and knowledge between students of Arundel High School and students of Wamunyu, Kenya.
We are very excited to embark on this effort at bridging the world and developing the global community. We hope you will accept our offer to partner with us as we arise to change the world. By contributing to our cause, you will not only fund a resource center in rural Kenya, but also contribute to the global wave of literacy and knowledge that is sweeping the world. As a community business, we know you understand the importance of education, collaboration and networking in the age of information. We cordially ask you to join us in our campaign to bridge the gaps between people of the world.
We thank you very much and we hope to hear from you soon; we are looking forward to working with you!
Donating to Kenya Venture
As stated, we work closely with the non-profit, Kenya Connect. One great advantage to our formal partnership is the non-profit status the organization brings to our cause. As a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, all contributions to Kenya Connect are tax-deductible (kenyaconnect.org). We have worked with Kenya Connect to establish a process in which all your donations to Youth Venture will go directly to our cause, while also being tax-deductible.
Your donation will be sent to Arundel High School (a return envelope is included for your convenience), and Kenya Connect will then send you a formal receipt for the purpose of federal tax-deductions. As we already work intimately with Kenya Connect on many other fronts in our drive, together Kenya Venture and Kenya Connect will keep tight records of your support and contributions, thus ensuring Kenya Connect will spend every penny of your donation on Kenya Venture projects (the community resource center and international book club), and we at Kenya Venture will be aware of your contribution (and will soon follow-up on our new partnership). Through this system, your donation will be tax-deductible, Kenya Venture will follow up on our new partnership, and Kenya Connect will use your money most efficiently towards the projects of Kenya Venture.
Thank you; we are looking forward to changing the world with your help.
